Birmingham Botanical Gardens

On Tuesday I took the kids to see the Brimingham Botanical Gardens (http://www.bbgardens.org) which are right next to the zoo. The gardens are huge and beautiful. Here are some photos of us there. I think the kids' favorite part were the puddles. Mine were the hydrangeas for sure.
We were lucky enough to have Lewis home yesterday for the fourth. We spent a lot of the day searching for a bed with not much success. In the afternoon we went to one of the chief resident's house for a barbeque with the rest of the residents. Most of them are married and there are 8 kids too. We all had a really good time. We came home and did a few fireworks which our kids did NOT enjoy and decided to watch the real ones on TV instead of dragging two tired and easily startled kids to watch them outside and get even more eaten alive my mosquitoes. All in all it was a really nice day. The kids were so surprised that Lewis was home last night when they went to bed!!
