A couple of weeks before school started we decided to spend a Saturday in Chattanooga, TN. We really love it there and wanted to go to the aquarium again.
When we got there we realized that it would only be a few more dollars to get a membership so we just joined. Now we have to go again! We also spent some time walking around town. Next to the river, on railings, over bridges, etc.
I don't get why these photos are so out of order. Here are the kids in the aquarium penguin exhibit:
But the coolest thing we saw all day was this guy riding this huge unicycle all over the place.
We went to dinner at Cheeburger Cheeburger and the baby was being her usual difficult self. So I let her use my ipod to take a million pictures of herself. It was my last effort to keep her occupied and it worked for a good 5 minutes. She is an intense little person.
My favorite thing in the aquarium were all the jellyfish. There were so many cool kinds.
Ab's favorite thing: (herself)
The kids were thrilled with these Japanese ducks and wanted to make sure to ask Grandma and Grandpa about them. Have you seen them in real life?
At the end of the aquarium we squished some pennies and then lost them almost right away.
Another one of our favorite things about Chattanooga is the little man made streams that run through the sidewalks around the aquarium. The kids loved it. Cate got all the way in and had a blast. She looked like a happy pig wallowing in the mud. Lewis wasn't as enthusiastic.
As we headed out of town we drove up to Lookout Mountain which has some gorgeous old homes and beautiful views. There is a revolutionary war memorial there and a civil war battle site that we hope to explore another time. By the time we got to them we were pretty worn out but we had a great day and can't wait to go again. (And no one had swine flu this time or threw up because they ate an entire gummy alligator in less than 2 minutes.)
